I used to own a cheap Chinese mosfet welder, it was a 3 in 1 with tig, stick and plasma cutter. It wouldn't run 7018 electrodes; they would constantly stick. The plasma cutter was abysmal to say the least, the only good thing was the DC tig. Whilst browsing I noticed a company called R-TECH, they sold welding machines, cutting machines and other gear. I watched a few videos on using their EXT 260 AC/DC Tig/Stick welder. It was then I decided to take the plunge - a few weeks later and I was the proud owner of an R-TECH 260 EXT AC/DC welder. All I can say is that it continually amazes me; the stable AC arc is superb whilst welding aluminium. Stick welding is now a pleasure as it puts down rod after rod of both 7018 and 6013, I have never run a rod on a single phase machine that goes down as smooth as these do. I've welded stainless pipe on DC using the CK torch fitted with a gas lens and a thoriated tungsten, brilliant finish! With little carbon blacking on the underside due to the pin-point accuracy of the arc. Their after-sales service is legendary, they don't quibble - at all! If you are stuck on something they are only too willing to help, it also helps when they know what they're talking about, unlike others I could mention. If the machine develops a problem, they'll pick it up and drop you one off so your not stuck without a welding machine, then return yours repaired asap, you can't beat that!! Don't decide, just pick a machine and buy it, you won't be disappointed, I can guarantee it!
